Stop your
stroke after the finish, as soon as the blades have exited the water.
Work
to achieve a clean finish and exit from the water. Feel that the boat's
momentum is not checked by a slow or sloppy blade exit. Notice your
body position - get your body to memorize the exact layback angle, and
the position of your elbows, and the relationship of your shoulder blades
moving toward one another.
As
you do this exercise, take note of the run of the boat. As it begins
to decelerate, gently restart your recovery - first pushing hands away,
straightening arms, moving shoulders forward, then pivoting lower back,
and pulling your feet slowing toward your butt as you move into position
for the next catch, giving up as little of the boat's momentum as possible.
