Safety Curtain and Traffic Pattern Update January 2023

Completion of Safety Curtain Installation
We’re pleased to share that the re-installation of the Safety Curtain above Fairmount Dam was successfully completed on Jan 12 via a contract managed by the Philadelphia Department of Streets and executed by South State. The contract – totalling $359,000 – represents yet another significant investment by the City of Philadelphia in supporting our ongoing river infrastructure; and, we’re grateful to our many partners in Phila Parks and Recreation and the Department of Streets who kept on top of this critical project with us.

Return to Normal Traffic Patterns
With the installation of the Curtain, the temporary changes to the traffic pattern (enacted after Hurricane Ida)) are now lifted, effectively immediately. You may review these changes (in red and strikethrough) HERE and also see note the original traffic patterns. Evidence of these temporary changes will be removed over the next 48 hours.
